Lord Dean attends Civic Reception celebrating 150 years of Partick Thistle

Last week, the Lord Dean of Guild, Tony McElroy, and his wife Morven attended a Civic Reception to mark the 150th anniversary of Partick Thistle Football Club.

Held at Glasgow City Chambers, the reception was hosted by the Lord Provost, Jacqueline McLaren, and was also attended by the Deacon Convenor, Tom Pollock, along with players past and present, club staff, and supporters of ‘The Jags’.

The anniversary will be celebrated throughout 2026 with a programme of special events, including a 150th Anniversary Lunch at the Radisson Blu featuring club legends, the unveiling of a new commemorative wall, a celebration at Firhill Stadium, the publication of a book of fan stories, and the release of exclusive anniversary merchandise.

Partick Thistle are a professional football club currently competing in the Scottish Championship. Despite their name, the club has been based at Firhill Stadium in Maryhill since 1909 and has not played in Partick since 1908. They have been members of the Scottish Professional Football League since its formation in 2013, having previously competed in the Scottish Football League.
