Lord Dean represents Merchants House at Armed Forces Day

The Lord Dean of Guild, Tony McElroy, was proud to represent the Merchants House at this year’s Glasgow Armed Forces Day, held on Saturday 28th June.

This annual event provides an important opportunity to show support for the entire Armed Forces community, including serving personnel, veterans, families, and cadets.

With George Square currently closed for redevelopment, this year’s celebrations took place at the Riverside Campus of City of Glasgow College. WO1 Anthony Morrin, Assistant Unit Ops Officer, led the proceedings as Parade Marshall, with choral and musical performances from the Neilston Pipe Band, the Military Wives Choir, and That Swing Sensation.

With our longstanding ties to the Armed Forces, this occasion offers an opportunity to show our appreciation for the men and women who serve, and to recognise their commitment and sacrifice. It was a very fitting day to celebrate the professionalism and courage of our military personnel, past and present.

This year’s event was especially meaningful as it coincides with Glasgow’s 850th birthday- a fitting occasion to honour those who have served and continue to serve our country.
