Nemo Arts Mental Health Choir

Nemo Arts are working hard to reduce the stigma and isolation associated with poor mental health and provide a variety of creative workshops and experiences for individuals and communities in the Glasgow area. Offering safe and fun places for people to learn and socialise they explain how a grant of £6,100 enabled them to start a choir.

Hugh McCue, Chief Executive from Nemo Arts explains “For more than 20 years we have been supporting people with therapeutic creative actives to support mental health and wellbeing. This year we were very grateful to receive a grant from the Merchants House of Glasgow to establish a choir for adults experiencing poor mental health. The people we support have experienced a great deal of trauma over the last 18 months, social isolation is the main challenge that people say they have faced over this time. The Nemo Arts Choir is a new way that we can support people to come together and take part in a group activity, reducing isolation and improving confidence and wellbeing.”
