The Merchants House has awarded £5,ooo to charity The Children’s Wood. “The last wild space in the west end of Glasgow.”

The Children’s Wood fills an entire city block in the G20 postcode of Glasgow’s West End.  The Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (2020) indicates that this area is in the most deprived 10% of housing provision in Scotland, and to many, the Children’s Wood offers an escape from the harsh realities of day-to-day life.

Alison Spurway, Chairperson said “Thank you to the Merchants House for the grant of £5,000. The money will help fund educational sessions and community events in 2023. For children it’s about adventure, exploring, getting muddy and setting their imagination free. Our events are free-of-charge and offer the whole community a place to come together and enjoy this wonderful space. ”

Events at The Children’s Wood include Outdoor Playgroup, Forest School, Volunteer Gardening Sessions and Dog Walking groups. Learn more by visiting the Children’s Wood website.
