Directors attend Royal Garden Party

Several Merchants House Directors attended the Royal Garden Party at the Palace of Holyroodhouse on the 2nd July. The King and Queen, joined by The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, hosted around 8000 people from all walks of Scottish life to spend a relaxed afternoon with them in the beautiful grounds of the Palace. The event recognises the significant contribution to Scottish life made by those invited to attend.

Each year, the Monarch spends a week visiting various regions in Scotland. Known in Scotland as ‘Royal Week’, and to others as ‘Holyrood Week’, these visits celebrate Scottish culture, achievement and community. Holyrood week normally takes place from the end of June to the beginning of July.

At the Garden Party The King and Queen proceed down avenues, speaking to a selection of guests. The Party is accompanied by music from regimental bands and The Royal Scottish Pipers Society.

Directors of the Merchants House were invited to the Garden Party in recognition of the significant charitable work undertaken by the organisation. Earlier this year we announced the awarding of over £100,000 in grant funding to support charities and organisations across Glasgow and the West of Scotland, benefitting a wide range of causes.
