‘Make Your Own Kind Of Music’ project

A grant of £7,500 to musicALL will support their ‘Make Your Own Kind of Music’ project

This project levels the playing field in music education, providing the same extra curricular opportunities for young people in Additional Support for Learning Schools across Glasgow as those offered in mainstream schools.

musicALL’s specialist tutors work together with pupils in a band, developing their individual music skills and personal social development. The bands rehearse weekly, playing instruments and building self-esteem, confidence, and a sense of belonging. Participants then have the opportunity to perform in front of a wider school audience, family and friends, giving them a chance to shine and for their families to enjoy seeing the talent they have.

Jennifer Gemmell, Fundraising and Administration Officer, said:

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for supporting our Make Your Own Kind of Music Project. Our project gives young disabled people a platform, and the chance to perform in accessible spaces to a wide, diverse audience. This project is life-changing for the young people taking part.”

musicALL supports disabled and neurodivergent young people to achieve their full potential through music-making. They believe in breaking down barriers to music education because they have seen how transformational it can be. Young people co- design band practices, jam sessions and live performances, growing their confidence and skills through the process. musicALL has now expanded to cover every ASL school in Glasgow, as well as regular sessions for school leavers and independent bands.
