Park Villa Football Development
Based in Elderslie Street in Glasgow, the charity Park Villa Football Development Group provides a safe and empowering environment for children, young people and adults to play football and to learn important life skills.
A disability inclusive club, the coaches use football as a way to teach concepts such as fitness, teamwork, discipline, self-esteem and good behaviour. They also promote the importance of healthy eating and maintaining good mental health. Children as young as 18 months old can take part in the regular activities.
Tracey McGilp, Admin Officer for Park Villa Football Development Group said:
“We would like to thank The Merchants House of Glasgow for the recent funding of £1950, supporting our children financially for the cost of equipment and training kit. Our children live in a deprived area of Glasgow and with the support of funding we are able to complete physical activities in the community to reduce the risk of obesity, isolation and low confidence. Our children will thrive to reach their full potential and have opportunities that will support them throughout childhood.”
