Popularity of Glasgow Doors Open Days Festival continues
Last weekend we once again took part in the annual Glasgow Doors Open Days Festival. The event continues to be very popular, and this time around we welcomed over 200 visitors across 2 days, doubling our numbers from last year. As well as locals from Glasgow, we had visitors from Clydebank and Dunfermline, and even from as far afield as Tennessee and Montreal!
The Lord Dean did a series of short talks and was joined on both days by fellow Directors who chatted to visitors, explaining the history of the Merchants House and the work we do, from being a fabulous events venue to supporting numerous charities across Glasgow and the west of Scotland.
Visitors were able to find out more by touring the building and seeing some of the original architectural features, and by browsing the extensive archival material that was on display. The event also supported our charitable work, with teas and coffees being available in return for a small donation.
Those visiting clearly enjoyed the experience, with many comments in our visitors book, including:
“Wonderful building – so much history. Enjoyed my visit!”
“Great visit to a fabulous building. Thank you.”
Applications for membership were also received, and someone even offered to do a historic talk for us.
We look forward to doing it all again in 2025!
