Renfewshire Food Bank

Renfrewshire Food Bank was awarded £10,000 in a recent round of grant funding by The Merchants House.

Visitors to the food bank have an initial chat with a volunteer about their needs and how the food bank can help them combat food poverty. This is typically by supplying a parcel with three days worth of nutritionally balanced, non-perishable food.

Crystal Clayton, Foodbank Manager says, ‘We are so grateful to The Merchants’ House of Glasgow for their generous grant of £10,000.  These funds will play a significant role in helping us provide a safety net for over 10,000 local families who cannot afford to feed themselves or their children.’

Crystal continued “Since 2012, Renfrewshire Foodbank has been working to make sure no-one in Renfrewshire is going hungry. From our 3 distribution centres and 2 warehouse sites, we don’t just supply food parcels; the Foodbank also provides essential emotional support as well as financial advice and signposting for those who have found themselves with nowhere else to turn.”
