The Leanne Fund SCIO receives £7,000 grant for their Get Active Glasgow project
Thanks to this funding award, The Leanne Fund in partnership with NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde paediatric Cystic Fibrosis (CF) team will ensure that children affected by CF across the region will have access to sport and fitness equipment or classes through this project.
Chrisetta Mitchell, Development Manager, said “Our project is helping children affected by the condition to maintain and improve their overall fitness and importantly their lung health.”
CF is one of the UK’s most common life-threatening inherited diseases affecting over 11,000 people in the UK. It is a systemic condition affecting every organ in the body but predominantly the lungs and digestive system, by clogging them with thick sticky mucus. This makes it hard to breathe and digest food. CF patients must follow a rigorous daily treatment programme including physiotherapy, nebulisers, medication, exercise and nutrition.
The Leanne Fund have been providing a range of unique support services to individuals affected by CF, and their families, since 2010. Their ultimate goal is to reach everyone in Scotland living with CF and be the support they need whenever it is needed.
