Clyde Tunnel Tour

The Clyde Tunnel Tour is a unique walking experience delivered by Invisible Cities in collaboration with SWG3 and Yardworks. The tour explores the history, engineering, and cultural significance of the Clyde Tunnel, which is one of Glasgow’s most important yet often overlooked pieces of infrastructure.
Participants will learn about why and how the tunnel was constructed beneath the River Clyde, the engineering challenges involved, how it operates today, and its transformation into a creative and community-focused space.
It’s a fascinating and immersive space; this is not somewhere most people would usually stop and experience and that makes the tour particularly memorable!

Cost: £15 (All proceeds to Invisible Cities)
The walk takes participants down into the tunnel via a steady downhill gradient and, after crossing beneath the river, back up on the opposite side at Whiteinch, and then a return walk back to the starting point at Govan. The pedestrian pathway is enclosed and relatively narrow, with a noticeable incline both descending and ascending, so a reasonable level of mobility is required. Comfortable footwear is strongly recommended.
