We’re pleased to announce that we are taking part in Glasgow Doors Open Days Festival again this year!

How many times have you walked past our building and wondered what goes on inside? Now’s your chance to come in and have a wander around one of Glasgow’s historic city-centre buildings.

Originally constructed around 1877, Merchants House has played an important role in the life and governance of Glasgow for centuries. During Doors Open Days, you’ll be able to explore some of our beautiful historic rooms, including the Grand Hall, Directors’ Room and Lord Dean’s Room.

Along the way, look out for some of the building’s original features, including the striking stained-glass windows, marble stairwell and even a door from the very first Merchants House, which was located at the Briggait.

You can also discover more about the people who have shaped the Merchants House over the years, and see how the charitable giving of our Benefactors, past and present, continues to support local charities and communities across Glasgow today.

Located right in the heart of the city centre, beside George Square and opposite Queen Street Station, we’re easy to find – so why not step through the doors and discover a little bit of Glasgow’s history for yourself?
