Merchants House grant awarded to SupportED

Merchants House is proud to provide a £5,000 grant to SupportED, a community eating disorder charity that delivers vital support to individuals and families affected by eating disorders.

SupportED was established in 2014 by the family of Linda Tremble, in her memory, following her sad death from anorexia nervosa in 2011. Since 2019, the charity has grown to become Scotland’s leading community eating disorder charity, offering accessible peer support to adults with eating disorders, as well as to parents, carers and families.

Today, SupportED delivers regular support group meetings across Scotland, including in Glasgow, alongside one-to-one telephone befriending, access to professionals with specialist eating disorder and mental health expertise, and a website with links to a variety of useful resources.

Impact of the Merchants House Grant

The £5,000 grant from Merchants House has had a direct impact on people affected by eating disorders in Glasgow. Funding has enabled SupportED to sustain local support groups. It has also supported the recruitment and training of additional volunteers, strengthening the charity’s capacity to provide support.

In addition, the funding has allowed SupportED to redevelop its website, ensuring people can access accurate, up-to-date information and practical wellbeing tools when they need them most.
