Sewing2gether All Nations receives £3,000 grant to support integration efforts
Sewing2gether All Nations has been awarded a £3,000 grant to support its weekly ‘All Nations Welcome Café’, a vital initiative aimed at providing a safe and welcoming space for displaced persons, refugees, and asylum seekers. The café’s purpose is to foster meaningful social interaction, offer English language practice, enhance mental well-being, and promote integration into the community. Additionally, participants are given the opportunity to access further support and referrals to other relevant services and agencies. Volunteers partner with attendees during language sessions, ensuring that everyone has the chance to engage and participate.
A representative of Sewing2gether All Nations expressed their gratitude, saying: “Thanks to this financial support, we can fund sessional staff, provide breakfast and refreshments, reimburse transport costs, and purchase learning materials. As a result, our service has thrived, and we’ve received overwhelmingly positive feedback from both participants and volunteers.” One group member shared, “They’ve created a safe space where I feel respected, heard, loved, and cared for.”
