Strathclyde Youth Jazz Orchestra Trust

A grant of £2,500 has been awarded to Strathclyde Youth Jazz Orchestra Trust.

Formed in late 2012, the Strathclyde University Jazz Orchestra is a student-led, student-directed music ensemble dedicated to the performance of jazz, popular and contemporary music.

Tricia Barlow, General Manager said “We were delighted and very grateful to learn that we would receive a grant from The Merchants House.  This grant of £2,500 will help us support more young musicians wanting to learn and play jazz.  The programmes we offer take young learners (from beginners right to advanced).   We want to give them the opportunity to take their interest and talent as far as they want.  Support from The Merchants House will help us make that possible for the widest community of young jazzers, particularly in these difficult times when so many families are experiencing multiple stresses on their finances.”
