The Lord Dean joins Santa at children’s Christmas party at the City Chambers

Almost 100 children from Glasgow schools enjoyed a special Christmas party at the City Chambers on 8th December.

As part of an annual tradition the Lord Provost, Jacqueline McLaren, invited youngsters with additional support needs for a fun filled day featuring music, dancing, and even a visit from Santa himself! Other special guests included Princess Elsa from the Disney animation Frozen and a Teenage Ninja Turtle.

The children, as well as their teachers and carers, really enjoyed the festive celebration. It was a chance to get out of school for the day and get involved in the wide variety of activities on offer, which also included games and party food.

The Lord Provost said “This is one of our events in the Christmas calendar in the city. They see Santa, get gifts, have a great time getting balloons and doing hokey-cokey. I love it.”

The Lord Dean was delighted to join in the fun in his capacity as second citizen of Glasgow. Attending a wide range of events is one way in which the Lord Dean fulfils his duty to the city, with civic responsibility being one of the foundational pillars of the Merchants House. The third citizen, the Deacon Convenor of the Trades House, Bruce Reidford, was also in attendance at the party.
