Trishaw Cycling Adventures

Cycling Without Age Scotland generates ‘miles of smiles’ as it enriches and enhances lives by giving older people and disabled people the chance to enjoy cycling.

A team of volunteers pedal trishaws around safe routes within the local area and give participants a sense of freedom and fun that may have been missing from their lives.

The trishaws can comfortably fit two adults and come with a waterproof cover. The person pedalling sits behind the passengers so there’s plenty of opportunity for a chat whilst everyone feels the wind in their hair. Often local people stop to say hello and the whole experience brings the community together.

Cycle routes could be a short trip around the village, or further afield to visit a coffee shop or local attraction.

Jennifer Thomson, a fundraising coordinator with the charity said;

“The generous grant of £4500 from Merchants House has helped Cycling Without Age Scotland to reach their target to enable them to purchase a trishaw to take residents from the Rutherglen Care Home on rides. A huge thanks to the Trustees for agreeing to donate to this wonderful cause!”
