Unveiling of VE Memorial Wall at Glasgow Central Station

On Sunday the 8th of May, Vice Dean Andrew McFarlane attended a service at Glasgow Central Station in honour of Glasgow’s Victoria Cross recipients and laid a wreath on behalf of the City.

The service included the presentation of a Peace Bench to mark the episode in the 1914-18 war when, on Christmas Day, British and German soldiers reputedly laid down their arms, albeit temporarily.

Andrew then joined Sir Andrew Gregory, Controller, SSAFA to unveil the Memorial Wall on Platform 1 within Glasgow Central Station to recognise those who served their country. The event concluded with the presentation of awards to recognise the contribution of individuals to the work of SSAFA.
