Young Dads Project

The Young Dads Project aims to give young men the skills and confidence they need to enjoy fatherhood.

Dads Rock charity has a successful Young Dads project aimed at helping vulnerable babies and young children to have the best possible start in life. They work with disadvantaged young men to give them the skills and confidence to enjoy the experience of being a Dad.

In Scotland there are thousands of fathers aged 16-30 yet limited support available. This project offers a 1:1 service tailored to the individual by learning about their situation, then developing a program with them to build their confidence.

Lisa Holder, a fundraising manager at the charity said “We are absolutely delighted to receive a grant from The Merchants House of Glasgow.”

Glasgow Young Dads Family Worker, Amy Craig-Carmichael added “Dads often feel forgotten by support services as many focus on the mother. We help Dads understand the impact they have on their child’s development and give tips and advice to enhance their ability to care for their children and become better fathers.”

Other services from the charity include parenting workshops, dads groups and support for dads with a child in the neo-natal unit. Learn more by visiting the Dads Rock website.
